Can Kovid vaccine be given to children?

 


Statistics show that since the outbreak of Kovid-19, the morbidity and mortality rate in children has been very low compared to adults.  However, a problem called pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome (PMMIS) has been reported in many children with Kovid-19.  A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) indicates that rare multisystem inflammatory syndrome has been found in children and adults with severe SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Do children need a vaccine?

 "I do not think children need vaccines. Firstly, they are at low risk of contracting Kovid - 19 and secondly, the long - term health effects of the vaccine are yet to be seen," said Bharat Biotech Kovacin, Principal Investigator, Clinical Trial, Department of Community Medicine, AIIMS.  These are the words of Sanjay Roy.

At the same time, the vaccine for children will not be released soon, but the health sector is still experimenting with it.  We have to wait patiently to know more.
